Urban redevelopment opens new commercial and tourism opportunities on Mashrab and Sarikuy streets

A redevelopment project covering Mashrab and Sarikuy streets has created a new mixed-use urban destination, combining upgraded public infrastructure with space for commerce, leisure and tourism. The project represents a total investment of 18 billion soums, including 8 billion soums from the republican budget and 10 billion soums contributed by private entrepreneurs.

Stretching for 1.2 kilometres, the renovated area features spacious and safer pedestrian and cycling paths, contemporary landscaping, fountains and new lighting elements. Selfie zones, open-air sports grounds, an ecological children’s area and family recreation spaces have also been introduced, giving the corridor a broader appeal beyond conventional retail.

The commercial component includes 35 retail facilities, where 30 business entities now provide services around the clock. The project has generated 100 new jobs and is designed to accommodate more than 10,000 residents and tourists each day.

During a visit to the renovated street, the country’s leader walked through the area and spoke with residents and entrepreneurs. The project illustrates how coordinated public investment and private capital can reshape urban spaces while creating new operating opportunities for local businesses.

A new platform for urban commerce and tourism

For international companies in furniture, construction, interior and exterior manufacturing, retail, design and architecture, the redevelopment signals growing demand for solutions used in public-realm projects: durable street furniture, lighting systems, landscaping products, playground and sports equipment, hospitality concepts and retail interiors. The combination of government-backed infrastructure spending, private business participation and a high expected daily visitor flow could create further opportunities for suppliers and investors able to support commercially active, tourism-oriented urban environments.
