The next decade will be crucial for Central Asia, with the region’s future depending on how effectively its countries capitalize on this historic opportunity, stated President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan in his article, “Renaissance of Central Asia: On the Path to Sustainable Development and Prosperity,” published in Kazakhstanskaya Pravda.
Tokayev emphasized that in an era of deglobalization, regional cooperation among Central Asian nations is vital both for preserving their unique civilizational identity and for stabilizing the region as a cohesive entity. He highlighted the shared historical and cultural bonds of the “C5” countries as the foundation for their collaboration.
The president praised the region’s efforts in creating “a space of trust and indivisible security” and establishing a “unique Central Asian cooperation format” based on mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
He outlined six key areas for advancing regional relations, including deepening economic ties, developing new transport corridors, ensuring water, food, and energy security, and strengthening cultural links. Tokayev also underscored the need for positioning Central Asia not only as a bridge between Asia and Europe but as an emerging regional player in global affairs, capable of becoming a new center of international attraction.
