New trade fair in Italy to accelerate sustainable building innovation and technology integration

14-16 Oct 2025 • FESI

Messe Frankfurt is set to expand its presence in Italy with the launch of FESI – Fiera dell’Edificio Sostenibile e Integrato (Trade Fair for Sustainable and Integrated Construction), scheduled to take place in 2025 at the Bologna exhibition grounds. The event will spotlight cutting-edge innovations across building automation, IoT integration, climate and heating systems, energy management, building security, electrical and lighting systems, and smart mobility solutions.

A Strategic Focus on Sustainability and Energy Efficiency

FESI aims to address the evolving needs of the Italian market as it adapts to European Union directives for stricter energy and environmental standards in buildings. This comes at a critical time when the construction sector is undergoing a significant transformation to meet carbon reduction targets and improve energy efficiency by 2030.

“FESI allows us to bring together selected product areas from ISH and Light + Building, our flagship trade fair brands, to address the specific needs of the Italian market,” said Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt. “This format will cater to professionals seeking innovative, sustainable solutions to meet the ecological and technological challenges of the future.”

Target Audience and Industry Impact

FESI will attract a diverse audience, including architects, engineers, designers, building contractors, facility managers, public administrators, and real estate professionals. The event will offer a comprehensive platform for stakeholders to explore advanced solutions that address Italy’s rapid adoption of sustainable building practices.

Donald Wich, CEO of Messe Frankfurt Italia, emphasized the event’s strategic importance: “The introduction of FESI reflects the changing needs of the Italian market following recent European guidelines. The event will create a vital meeting point for sector players and present actionable solutions for the challenges tied to this transformation.”

Messe Frankfurt’s Legacy in Building Technology

With more than 60 years of expertise in organizing technical trade fairs worldwide, Messe Frankfurt brings unmatched experience and global reach to the intelligent building technology sector. Its extensive international network spans over 180 countries, ensuring FESI is positioned as a premier platform to accelerate green building innovation.

A Platform for Learning and Collaboration

FESI will offer a robust program of conferences and workshops, enabling participants to earn training credits (CFUs). Key themes include Building Information Modelling (BIM), digitalization, and the application of technologies like artificial intelligence. Real-world case studies will also be showcased, demonstrating the impact of intelligent building solutions in residential construction.

The event’s emphasis on training and networking will foster interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing – making it a cornerstone for Italy’s efforts to champion sustainable and intelligent building practices.

A Catalyst for Green Transformation

As Italy continues to embrace sustainable construction, FESI will serve as a pivotal platform for advancing energy efficiency, innovation, and environmental awareness. The trade fair underscores Italy’s growing influence in driving the green transformation of the global building sector.
