Heimtextil 2027 will take place from 12 to 15 January in Frankfurt am Main, bringing together home and contract textiles, textile design and sourcing solutions across the entire value chain. With the new premium segment Carpets & Rugs Excellence, the Comfort & Connect area and the Heimtextil Trends 27/28, the trade fair is refining its offer for a market facing more demanding purchasing decisions and increasingly complex supply conditions.
Textile products are increasingly assessed according to quality, functionality, durability and long-term value. At the same time, geopolitical uncertainty is making international supply chains more difficult to plan. Against this background, around 2,900 exhibitors are expected to participate, keeping the event at the previous year’s level and underlining its international role for the sector.
“In a market that is increasingly difficult to predict, quality, reliability and strong personal relationships matter. At Heimtextil, trade visitors experience materials first-hand, discuss their requirements directly with manufacturers and find production partners capable of delivering the volumes they need. This combination of product experience, an international offering and personal exchange makes Heimtextil a reliable strategic partner for the industry – especially in a challenging market,” says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt.
Trends connect performance with material experience
Under the title “Home-Maxxing – The Performance of Everyday Living”, Heimtextil and Milan-based design platform Alcova will examine how spaces are expected to provide more functions without creating additional demands for their users. The Heimtextil Trends 27/28 present three approaches to textile and surface design.
Staged Competence turns technical performance and durability into visible design elements through codes, numbers and micrographics. Inside, Out makes complex technology easier to understand by exposing features such as seams, straps, zips and replaceable covers. Hyper Presence responds to digital overstimulation through natural fibres, rough surfaces, folds and patina, emphasising tactile material qualities and the visible process of ageing.
The trends are intended to support retail, design and industry professionals in developing future ranges, products and spaces. They show how performance can become visible, construction can be made easier to understand and material quality can be experienced more directly. Architect and designer Patricia Urquiola will integrate her own pieces into the Trend Space, continuing the material research of her previous Heimtextil editions. The presentation will include new works and further developments of existing ideas, with Alcova as curator and Urquiola contributing her own perspective.
