Denmark gains direct air connection with Uzbekistan as Centrum Air launches regular Tashkent route

Denmark has gained its first direct aviation link with Central Asia as Uzbekistan’s carrier Centrum Air announced the launch of regular flights connecting Copenhagen with Tashkent starting October 2, 2025. This milestone marks the airline’s inaugural European route and represents a strategic step in transforming Tashkent into a major regional aviation hub.

The new service will operate twice weekly using modern Airbus A320 aircraft, with departures scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Passengers can secure tickets starting from $279, positioning the route competitively within the European-Central Asian aviation market. The flight schedule accommodates both business and leisure travelers, with convenient timing that maximizes connectivity options.

“Centrum Air will offer passengers from Denmark convenient transit routes through Tashkent: Bangkok, Seoul, Guangzhou, Phuket, Tel Aviv, Almaty, Dushanbe, Bishkek and other destinations,” the airline announced. This hub strategy leverages Tashkent’s geographical position to create seamless connections between Scandinavia and Asia, potentially reshaping regional travel patterns.

European expansion blueprint

The Copenhagen launch represents the opening chapter of Centrum Air’s ambitious European expansion strategy. Company leadership revealed plans to establish additional routes to Manchester, Frankfurt, Madrid, Barcelona, and Rome, signaling confidence in the Central Asian aviation market’s growth potential.

This development coincides with enhanced diplomatic engagement, as Uzbekistan’s embassy in Sweden conducted online meetings with Centrum Air executives, including International Trade Director Salah Kadri and Scandinavian Sales Manager Ibrahim Ramadan. These discussions centered on expanding trade relationships between Uzbekistan and Northern European countries while boosting tourist flows in both directions.

The diplomatic collaboration extends beyond aviation, encompassing joint tourism and cultural initiatives. Proposed activities include presentations at major Northern European tourism fairs and organized press tours featuring prominent Scandinavian bloggers and journalists visiting Uzbekistan, creating sustained promotional momentum.

For international businesses operating in construction materials, furniture manufacturing, and interior design sectors, this new aviation link presents tangible opportunities for market expansion into Central Asia. The direct connection eliminates previous transit complications through third countries, reducing both travel time and logistics costs for business delegations, trade missions, and technical specialists. Danish and broader Scandinavian companies can now more efficiently explore Uzbekistan’s growing construction market, estimated to require significant foreign expertise and materials as the country modernizes its infrastructure. The route also facilitates reverse trade flows, enabling Central Asian manufacturers to access European distribution networks more effectively, while the hub connectivity through Tashkent opens pathways to broader Asian markets for European businesses seeking regional expansion beyond their primary Danish entry point.
