In the year 2020, the amount of newly built or renovated schools in Russia reached 138,692 persons of total capacity. This represents a 9.1% decrease year-over-year. Of this total, the lions share of 95% was new construction, while only 5% was commissioned as renovated facilities. Most of the objects considered, approximately 87%, were schools in urban area.
In addition, significant capacities of preschool educational organizations (kindergartens) have been commissioned in the reporting year, too. This includes 97,131 places in kindergartens, down by 7.9% from the previous year.
The volume of new or renovated high schools, reported in square meters of floor area, reached 54,069 sq. m, down by 46.6% from the previous year.
