Heimtextil 2026 concluded with 3,000 exhibitors from 148 nations presenting their collections to over 48,000 buyers in Frankfurt, reinforcing the fair’s position as a stable industry platform amid volatile global market conditions. The event demonstrated marked growth in visitor quality, with 78 percent of attendees serving as top-level decision-makers – a significant increase from previous years. This shift reflected the fair’s ability to attract senior executives from major international corporations including Harrods, IKEA, Marriott Hotels, Sainsbury’s and XXXLutz, alongside a 68 percent rate of repeat visitors.
Global participation strengthens amid trade uncertainty
The exhibition maintained an international exhibitor share of 96 percent, with leading suppliers from China, India, Pakistan, Türkiye, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Visitor internationality reached 86 percent, with notable growth from the United States, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland and Peru. Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, acknowledged the fair’s importance in the current environment: “Volatile tariff policies and geopolitical uncertainties are reshaping global sourcing and trade structures. At the same time, markets in ASEAN and Europe are gaining in importance. The need for orientation, market transparency, reliable partners and new business opportunities is increasing. Especially in the current climate, a dependable platform such as Heimtextil is indispensable as a central meeting point for the global industry.”
Interior design and hospitality emerge as growth segments
Under the theme “Craft is a verb”, Heimtextil Trends 26/27 connected artificial intelligence with traditional craftsmanship, providing impulses for design teams and product development. Designer Patricia Urquiola created an interactive installation that demonstrated how transformative textiles respond to individual human needs, combining AI, material innovation and sustainability for design, retail and hospitality applications.
The fair’s Interior.Architecture.Hospitality programme addressed growing demand for functional contract textiles across hospitality, office, healthcare and contract sectors. A new cooperation with Hospitality Interiors Europe, launching in 2027, will expand the fair’s offering for high-end contract design and strengthen Frankfurt’s position as a central platform for the global hospitality sector.
Artificial intelligence translates to business opportunities
Heimtextil 2026 embedded AI into its trade fair experience through the “Texpertise Focus AI” initiative. Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies, noted: “Artificial intelligence is already part of economic reality – as a creative partner for design concepts and material visualisations, and as an efficient tool for data migration, day-to-day workflows and personalised customer engagement. Our aim is to make these concrete applications tangible and actionable for the industry.”
Heimtextil 2027 will take place from 12 to 15 January 2027.
