Rarity transforms from exception to shared design language

21-26 Apr 2026 • Salone del Mobile.Milano

Salone del Mobile.Milano unveils Salone Raritas, a new dedicated exhibition space designed to bridge collectible design, high-end craftsmanship and antiques with the professional B2B market. Making its debut at the 64th edition of the trade fair from 21st to 26th April 2026 at Fiera Milano in Rho, the initiative brings together galleries of excellence, architects, interior designers, developers and hospitality professionals on a platform with strong curatorial vision to foster networking and generate business opportunities.

Curated by Annalisa Rosso, Editorial Director and Cultural Events Advisor of the Salone, with spatial design by Formafantasma, Salone Raritas addresses an evolving market dynamic. International hospitality, residential real estate and experiential retail increasingly incorporate limited edition works and collectible furnishings as strategic drivers of identity and positioning. The platform recognizes this shift, bringing unique pieces and limited editions to the attention of professionals seeking quality, rarity and coherent narratives for hotels, residences and public spaces.

Design and Space

The exhibition area, conceived as a large architectural lantern, employs a porous landscape designed to preserve the identity of each gallery while maintaining visual coherence and rhythm. Formafantasma’s approach combines a predefined color and material palette with modular islands that allow for calibrated customization. Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of Formafantasma explain: “We imagined Salone Raritas as a legible and permeable architectural landscape, a lantern that puts light and rhythm at the service of the pieces. The design allows each gallery to express its own identity while maintaining a choral narrative, designed for both visitor memorability and for market effectiveness.”

Market Recognition

Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, stated: “Salone Raritas was born of an awareness that is also a responsibility, which is to read the evolution of the international market and provide a response consistent with the identity of the Salone del Mobile.Milano. At a time when the professional world is focusing on uniqueness, content and quality, Salone Raritas fully interprets the Salone’s role as an activator of international connections, visions and languages.”

The Salone ecosystem attracts over 300,000 visitors from more than 160 countries and reaches over 5,200 international journalists annually, providing significant visibility within a traditionally small-scale sector. Annalisa Rosso added: “We have worked to build a new design, cultural and commercial ecosystem that constitutes a concrete and valuable opportunity for both exhibitors and visitors, generating new connections and market opportunities. Salone Raritas builds open channels of communication between realities that until very recently seemed far apart.”

Located in Pavilions 9–11 at Fiera Milano Rho, the initiative positions rarity as a shared design language rather than an exception, establishing the Salone as a cultural infrastructure where limited editions and high-end craftsmanship align with contemporary professional needs.
