Setting new benchmarks in global furniture industry innovation

Post-show report • CIFM / interzum guangzhou 2024

The recent CIFM/interzum guangzhou 2024 concluded with remarkable success, reinforcing its role as a pivotal international event for the furniture production and manufacturing sector. Held from March 28 to 31 in Guangzhou, the fair demonstrated significant growth and international engagement, surpassing previous records in scale and participation.

This year’s exhibition spanned nearly 180,000 square meters, accommodating 1,586 companies, marking a 24.2% increase from 2019. The fair attracted 215,166 trade visitors from 178 countries and regions, a substantial 30.2% rise from the previous benchmark, with a notable 63.6% surge in overseas attendees.

Grace Chen, Chairwoman of Leitz (China), reflected on the event’s success, stating, “Both visitor turnout and order volumes surpassed expectations by approximately 20%. We are hopeful and confident about the outlook for the Chinese market.”

Yongfeng Yang, President of CITIKING-RENOLIT, also praised the fair’s influence, noting, “interzum guangzhou is a highly influential international furniture production trade fair. Industry-leading companies, designers, and technical teams all participate. We are very pleased with the event.”

Innovative exhibitions and global collaboration

CIFM/interzum guangzhou 2024 hosted a wide array of exhibitions focusing on innovative trends in furniture production. Top international companies showcased in Area B of the venue, including SCM, Paolino Bacci, Biesse, HOMAG, Leitz, and Freud, featured advancements in furniture manufacturing technology geared towards efficiency and quality.

Area C highlighted a diverse range of furniture materials and accessories, emphasizing sustainable materials and functional enhancements. Prominent global brands and international associations such as AHEC and AMSO presented high-quality solutions that attracted a significant number of manufacturers and designers.

Engaging industry dialogues and recognitions

The event also facilitated crucial industry discussions through various concurrent forums such as the Vitality of Sustainable Innovation to Life (VSIL) Forum and the Boundless Design Forum, which explored cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices.

The interzum guangzhou Award spotlighted high-quality furniture accessories and components, celebrating achievements in sustainable development, digitalisation, and innovative material applications.

Strengthening international ties

Further enhancing its global reach, CIFM/interzum guangzhou collaborated with international bodies like the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (EUMABOIS), the Egyptian Furniture Export Council (EFEC), and the Malaysian Furniture Council (MFC). These partnerships aimed to connect resources across the global furniture industry and solidify the event’s status as an exclusive annual international gathering for furniture production and design.

The fair’s structured business matchmaking sessions facilitated over 200 on-site meetings, connecting exhibitors with top procurement representatives from companies worldwide, fostering productive dialogues and partnerships.

Reflecting on the success of the matchmaking sessions, Li Peng, R&D Director at Vifa, commended, “This year’s on-site matchmaking sessions were exceptionally well-organised, precise, and highly efficient. Subsequent discussions at the designated booths yielded fruitful outcomes. We commend the organisers for their professionalism and meticulous planning, and we eagerly anticipate the continued success of the trade fair.”

Christy Tang, Creative Director at MT Design, shared her positive experience, “Attending interzum guangzhou 2024 has not only expanded our knowledge but has also strengthened our professional network, allowing us to stay abreast of the latest trends and innovations in the industry.”

Antonio Fincato, Area Manager for Italian hardware brand SIGE SPA, also noted the event’s promising start to the year.

Looking ahead, CIFM/interzum guangzhou is set to return from March 28 to 31, 2025, at the Canton Fair Complex, with registrations for stands now open, promising another year of industry-leading showcases and international collaboration.
