New collaboration set to redefine textile trends with Alcova Milano's creative direction

14-17 Jan 2025 • Heimtextil

For the first time, Heimtextil Trends 25/26 will be curated by the creative minds behind Alcova Milano, bringing a fresh and unconventional perspective to the textile industry. Known for its avant-garde approach, Alcova blends design, art, and architecture to challenge traditional norms, offering a new outlook on textiles that incorporates both historical and future-oriented influences.

Alcova, founded by curator Valentina Ciuffi and architect Joseph Grima, has gained recognition for its unique exhibitions at Milan Design Week, using historical spaces to create engaging installations that merge past and present. This collaboration with Heimtextil aims to inspire new trends and encourage dialogue on the evolving role of textiles in the modern world.

Heimtextil’s Vice President of Textiles & Textile Technologies, Olaf Schmidt, stated, “The collaboration between Heimtextil and Alcova promises to push creative boundaries and set new impulses for the textile world. Together with Valentina Ciuffi, Joseph Grima, and their international network of experts, we are further developing the forward-looking character of Heimtextil Trends.”

Under the theme “Future Continuous,” the Heimtextil Trends 25/26 will explore how past textile trends can be reinterpreted to inspire future innovation. The use of language is central to this year’s trend research, with Alcova’s network of designers and researchers sharing insights into the cultural and material significance of textiles across a range of fields, from history to sustainable agriculture.

The “Trend Arena” in Hall 3.0 will feature an immersive experience where Alcova creatively connects the past and future of the textile industry, making Heimtextil Trends 25/26 a central highlight of the event. Full details of “Future Continuous” will be unveiled at the Trend Preview on 12 September 2024.
