Global lighting forum to reshape design discourse with innovation and sustainability

8-13 Apr 2025 • Salone del Mobile.Milano

The 2025 edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano will introduce The Euroluce International Lighting Forum, a groundbreaking platform for global discussions on the future of lighting design. Set to take place on April 10–11, within the Euroluce biennial at Rho Fiera Milano, this new initiative aligns with the 63rd edition of the Salone del Mobile.

The Forum aims to expand the role of Euroluce, transforming it into a multifaceted event that integrates commercial offerings with cultural and philosophical explorations of light. Featuring a curated space within the Euroluce exhibition area, the Forum will host conferences, round tables, and workshops, showcasing thought leaders from architecture, design, science, and technology.

A Platform for Global Thought Leaders

Three key speakers have been announced:

  • DRIFT, a collective known for installations exploring the intersections of artificial and natural forms.
  • A.J. Weissbard, an internationally renowned lighting designer and artist.
  • Marjan van Aubel, a pioneer in solar design and sustainable innovation.

These figures will lead discussions on topics ranging from the interaction between light and architecture to the role of lighting in human wellbeing, emphasizing multidisciplinary and sustainable approaches.

Transforming Lighting Paradigms

The Forum builds on Euroluce’s evolution seen in the 2023 edition, where the “City of Lights” theme introduced a reimagined exhibition format and visitor experience. The ADI – Association for Industrial Design recognized the project in its prestigious ADI Index 2024.

Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano, emphasized the Forum’s alignment with the event’s legacy: “Light is an increasingly integral part of our lives. The Forum reflects the DNA of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, which has always been a generator of ideas and formats for tackling contemporary challenges.”

Carlo Urbinati, President of FederlegnoArredo’s Assoluce, added: “Light creates atmospheres and perceptions capable of interpreting architecture. Our aim is to elevate the designer’s role to that of a conductor, orchestrating innovation and creativity.”

A Journey Beyond the Fair

Ahead of the Forum, promotional events will travel to cities across Europe and North America, including stops in Miami, New York, and Boston. These sessions will introduce the Forum’s themes and offer a platform for global dialogue.

The Forum promises an immersive exploration of light’s potential, blending technological, aesthetic, and sustainable insights. By addressing the future of lighting design, it positions itself as a critical driver of innovation in the global design community.
