A compass for the industry in challenging times

20-23 May 2025 • interzum

As the countdown to interzum 2025 continues, the furniture production and interior design sectors are demonstrating robust international interest, with over 93 percent of the exhibition space already reserved. Set to run from May 20 to 23 in Cologne, the event is shaping up to be a pivotal platform for discussing innovations and industry trends amid economic shifts.

The significant booking rate, featuring numerous top brands and returning exhibitors, underscores the fair’s role as a critical meeting point for the global industry. This strong engagement reflects the industry’s ongoing commitment to innovation, particularly during periods of economic uncertainty.

Globally, suppliers are navigating various economic and social hurdles, with issues like sustainability pressures and uncertain economic forecasts influencing their strategies. In this environment, interzum emerges as a key venue for developing forward-looking solutions that will address these evolving challenges.

Maik Fischer, Director of interzum, expressed enthusiasm about the high level of interest: “We’re delighted with the consistently strong demand for interzum. The return of renowned exhibitors, the presence of numerous market-leading companies and the participation of many small and medium-sized businesses show how relevant the world’s leading trade fair is to the industry, especially in economically challenging times.”

Next year’s fair will focus heavily on sustainable practices under the theme, ‘Rethinking Resources: Circular and Biobased Solutions.’ This initiative will cover all aspects of sustainable furniture production and offer practical experiences for attendees. Highlights include the interzum Trend Stage, the Product Stage, and three Trend Forums where new studies, ideas, and solutions will be discussed.

The fair will also feature the Rethinking Resources Boulevard, where exhibitors can display innovative products and concepts that utilize biobased materials and embody circular economy principles. Additionally, the interzum award 2025 will recognize exceptional contributions from industry suppliers, further emphasizing the fair’s dedication to fostering industry advancements.
