International hotel brands secure management of new Tashkent hospitality complex

A transformative hospitality project has taken shape in Uzbekistan’s capital, marking a significant milestone in the country’s tourism infrastructure development. The newly inaugurated hotel complex adjacent to the “New Uzbekistan” park represents a bold stride toward positioning Tashkent as a regional hospitality hub, bringing together international expertise with local ambitions in an impressive 8-hectare development.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the ambitious project on August 18, witnessing firsthand how previously abandoned land plots have been transformed into a comprehensive hospitality ecosystem. The complex encompasses 12 three-star hotels, each standing five stories tall with 62 rooms and 124 beds, alongside the “New Tashkent” conference hall accommodating 375 delegates, a restaurant serving over 310 guests, a wellness center, and an outdoor sports facility.

The hotels carry symbolic significance, bearing names honoring Karakalpakstan and the country’s regions — a gesture that underscores the project’s national importance while celebrating Uzbekistan’s diverse geographical identity. This naming convention reflects the government’s vision of creating a unified hospitality experience that represents the entire nation.

International Management Partnership

The complex operates under a unified concept with management responsibilities entrusted to established international hospitality operators: Leo Hospitality Solutions, Radisson Individuals, and Trademark Collection by Wyndham. This strategic partnership brings proven expertise and global standards to Uzbekistan’s expanding tourism sector, while private banks have expressed keen interest in becoming partners for similar hospitality ventures across the country.

The facility’s multifunctional design enables hosting high-level events and major international conferences, positioning it as more than just accommodation — rather as a comprehensive business and leisure destination. With 540 newly created jobs and an annual capacity to serve up to 55,000 tourists, the complex represents a substantial economic catalyst for the capital and surrounding communities.

Strategic Vision for Regional Expansion

During his visit, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the broader implications of this development, noting that “expanding the sphere of services and creating modern facilities will contribute to the growth of people’s welfare.” The president highlighted the necessity of expanding service offerings, improving quality standards, and actively promoting multifunctional hospitality services throughout the country’s regions.

The project’s impact extends beyond its immediate boundaries, spurring infrastructure improvements in surrounding mahallas (neighborhoods) and enhancing local community prosperity. This ripple effect demonstrates how strategic hospitality investments can drive broader urban development and social welfare improvements.

International Business Implications

This development signals robust opportunities for international companies in the hospitality and construction sectors seeking to expand into Central Asian markets. The successful integration of global hospitality management brands demonstrates Uzbekistan’s openness to international partnerships and its commitment to implementing world-class service standards. For furniture and interior design companies, the ongoing expansion of hospitality infrastructure represents a growing market for high-quality furnishing solutions, especially as these facilities aim to meet international standards.

Construction industry players should note the government’s clear commitment to transforming underutilized urban spaces into productive commercial developments, suggesting similar opportunities may emerge across other cities. The involvement of private banks as potential management partners indicates strong domestic financial sector support for hospitality ventures, creating favorable conditions for international investors seeking local financing solutions or joint venture opportunities in Uzbekistan’s expanding tourism and business infrastructure sector.
