Manufacturers of furniture, textiles and carpets in Uzbekistan to be supported by new measures

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the development of local industry and spoke about measures to support it to increase exports.

In particular, the period of customs benefits for furniture manufacturers will be extended until January 1, 2024. Noting that about 100 mahallas in Bukhara, Namangan, Samarkand, Andijan, Fergana and Khorezm specialize in the production of furniture, Mirziyoyev stressed the need to develop furniture industry areas around these communities in order to expand conditions for local carpenters. The head of state instructed to provide producers with guaranteed raw materials, as well as with assistance to those enterprises that cannot operate at full capacity.

Officials are called upon to assist local enterprises in obtaining international certificates and entering the foreign market. The ambassadors of Uzbekistan were instructed to promote the attraction of modern technologies and investments from abroad.

“Next year we will expand support for exports. From now on, a system will operate by providing subsidies to industries depending on the volume of exports,” the president added.

To support the textile industry, the state compensates 70% of transportation costs for the export of fabrics and knitwear to Turkey, Egypt, Morocco and European countries. Next year, the country will adopt a program to export industrial products worth more than $5 billion.

To support manufacturers of building materials, the task was set to develop an industrial mortgage program. At the first stage, $50 million will be allocated for this, loans will be issued for 7 years with a two-year grace period.

In eight districts of the republic, industrial zones of building materials will be created, in the city of Angren a cluster of porcelain and sanitary ware to be developed. The current goal is to increase exports in this sector up to $1 billion.
