idd cologne returns for its second edition from 27 to 31 October 2026, bringing more than 140 brands to Cologne for a programme focused on premium residential interior design. The participating companies will present exclusive furnishing concepts, new designs and current collections across three main exhibition venues: Design Post Köln, WallStudio Cologne and machwerkhaus köln. Selected showrooms and retail partners throughout the city will also take part, creating a broader design route supported by exhibitions, talks, guided tours, workshops and networking opportunities. Admission is free.
“At the end of October, Cologne will once again become the meeting point for the international interior design scene. With more than 140 brands, three exhibition venues and numerous showrooms and stores across the city, we are presenting a format brimming with quality, diversity and creative energy. Through its ‘urban-only’ concept, idd cologne brings exceptional interior solutions to life where people live, work and come together – right here in Cologne,” says Maik Fischer, Director of idd cologne.
Three venues anchor the programme
Design Post Köln remains the central meeting point of the event. Located in a listed industrial building in Deutz, the venue covers around 3,500 square metres and presents international brands including &Tradition, Arco, Arper, Carl Hansen, Ferm Living, MDF Italia, Mobitec, Prostoria, RIVA and Wendelbo. Outdoor living is another focus, with April, DEDON, Fischer Möbel, Gloster and Howe showing solutions that address the increasingly fluid relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces.
This year, Design Post Köln will also serve as an additional exhibition venue for ORGATEC, which takes place from 27 to 30 October 2026. The parallel trade fair focuses on workspace and contract solutions. Their combination links residential interior design with contemporary workplace and contract environments, expanding the brand mix and creating opportunities for professional exchange between private and commercial interiors.
Newcomer WallStudio Cologne, located in the Südstadt district, joins the event as a material library, showroom and design hub. Its presentation covers wall coverings, paints, flooring, ceramic surfaces and architectural design elements. Farrow & Ball, Omexco, Porcelanosa and Wall&decò are among the participating brands.
machwerkhaus köln in the Kalk district is again part of idd cologne. The creative hub occupies an industrial site of around 20,000 square metres and brings together craft manufacturers, workshops, start-ups, design and planning studios, and circular economy businesses. During the event, its halls, workshops and showrooms become a setting for contemporary interior design, craftsmanship, materials and production methods.
A citywide design trail
Numerous showrooms and stores extend the programme beyond the three principal venues. Bretz Store Köln, Fermob, Jan Kath Design, Kartell, Laufen, MAGAZIN, Markanto and Stoll Wohnbedarf are among the participating partners. Their locations allow visitors to experience premium brands and designs directly while exploring a citywide trail that combines product presentations with personal encounters and expert insights.
idd cologne is also connected with Design Season Cologne, an independent urban design festival running from 26 to 31 October 2026. The two events share participating showrooms and retail partners, extending design activity across Cologne while maintaining separate identities.
Exhibitions and discussions broaden the offer
The event programme includes exhibitions, talks, lectures, panel discussions, guided tours, workshops, networking and evening events. Held across the main venues, showrooms and retail partners, the formats address current developments and future questions in design, architecture and interiors.
At Design Post Köln, the exhibition 11 Kränze / 11 Studios brings together eleven Cologne-based design studios interpreting the traditional Kölschkranz, the ring-shaped carrier for Kölsch glasses. At Markanto Depot, Knoll. Ikonen der Moderne (Knoll. Icons of Modernism) presents works by Harry Bertoia, Marcel Breuer, Florence Knoll, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Warren Platner and Eero Saarinen, combining current Knoll International products with museum-quality vintage pieces.
