Navoi region forges international tourism partnerships at Tashkent fair

Uzbekistan’s Navoi region secured a significant boost to its international tourism prospects at the Tashkent International Tourism Fair (TXTY-2025), conducting over 100 business meetings and formalizing partnerships with multiple countries spanning Central Asia, Europe, and the Arab world.

The participation marked a strategic pivot beyond standard tourism promotion. Rather than conventional booth presentations, Navoi assembled a multifaceted delegation combining tourism specialists, entrepreneurs, artisans, and regional business representatives — more than 30 commercial entities in total — underscoring intent to present both cultural assets and commercial opportunity simultaneously. The exhibition centerpiece — a detailed model of Sentob village from Nuratinsky district — wove together the region’s historical heritage, religious sites, and contemporary tourism infrastructure into a single narrative accessible to international visitors.

The fair engagement translated directly into formalized commitments. Navoi signed memorandums of understanding with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, European nations, and Arab countries. These agreements target tourism exchange, joint project implementation, accommodation services cooperation, media partnerships, and expanded tourism connectivity — establishing formal collaborative frameworks rather than transactional engagement.

Tourism packages gain traction with international operators

Three tourism packages attracted particular attention among fair participants. Safari offerings combining desert exploration, hunting, and off-road experiences; Sentob eco-tourism routes emphasizing community-based tourism, mountain tours, and ecological trails; and specialized circuits in Khatyrchi and Nuratinsky districts each garnered substantial interest. Negotiations with international partners advanced beyond preliminary discussion to substantive agreements on package integration — international tour operators have committed to incorporating these Navoi offerings into their standard tour inventory.

Khilola Khudoyberdiyeva, leading specialist at Navoi’s Tourism Department, remarked on the engagement: “Throughout all three days, our booth was continuously filled with visitors — delegations, bloggers, and participants demonstrated significant interest in the region’s cultural heritage, natural features, and tourism routes. Visitors explored unique offerings, new routes, and investment opportunities available to the region.”

She elaborated on the outcomes: “The tourism packages developed by Navoi — Safari packages, Sentob eco-tourism routes, and specialized district routes — attracted considerable interest. Negotiations successfully concluded on inclusion in foreign tour operator packages.”

Implications for international market entrants

For hospitality companies, tourism service operators, and accommodation providers evaluating Central Asian market opportunities, Navoi’s expanded international engagement signals maturing tourism infrastructure and increasingly formalized business frameworks. The emphasis on integrating traditional cultural elements with contemporary hospitality services presents market opportunities for specialized international operators and heritage-focused brands. As established international tour operators begin systematically channeling visitors through Navoi packages, supporting service infrastructure — accommodation facilities, dining operations, transport services, tourist activity management, and professional facility operations — will require both significant expansion and professional-grade execution. This creates identifiable entry points for qualified international service providers and investors capable of meeting international hospitality standards.
