A strategic partnership is taking shape between Uzbekistan and one of China’s most economically powerful provinces, promising to unlock new manufacturing capabilities and investment flows into Central Asia’s emerging industrial landscape.
On October 17, 2025, Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Ilzat Kasimov met with Wang Shanghua, Director General of the Council for Development of International Trade of Jiangsu Province, to chart an ambitious path for bilateral economic cooperation. The discussions centered on three critical pillars: expanding trade and investment ties, launching new manufacturing enterprises, and advancing digital infrastructure development.
Industrial zone at the heart of cooperation
The Chinese delegation put forward a comprehensive proposal that could reshape Uzbekistan’s manufacturing sector. The centerpiece involves establishing a specialized industrial zone in Uzbekistan where enterprises from Jiangsu Province would operate, creating a concentrated hub of Chinese manufacturing expertise and technology transfer.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, the proposal includes compiling a detailed roster of Chinese companies interested in entering the Uzbek market, establishing a joint working group to oversee implementation, and organizing targeted investment meetings. These initiatives aim to create a systematic framework for channeling Chinese industrial investment into Uzbekistan rather than relying on ad-hoc arrangements.
Roadshow strategy for mutual opportunities
The two sides agreed to conduct a series of road show events throughout 2026 in both Uzbekistan and Jiangsu Province. These promotional tours will showcase investment opportunities to potential partners on both sides, creating a structured platform for businesses to explore collaboration possibilities. The road shows represent a departure from traditional government-to-government talks, focusing instead on practical business matchmaking.
Both parties confirmed their mutual readiness to actively implement joint projects and leverage existing potential to strengthen economic partnership between Uzbekistan and Jiangsu Province. The emphasis on utilizing untapped potential suggests that despite existing cooperation, significant room remains for growth.
For international furniture manufacturers, construction materials producers, and interior design companies, this development signals Uzbekistan’s growing appeal as a regional manufacturing hub with backing from one of China’s industrial powerhouses. Jiangsu Province, home to major manufacturing clusters and advanced production capabilities, could bring sophisticated manufacturing technologies and supply chain networks to Uzbekistan. The proposed industrial zone may offer opportunities for non-Chinese international companies to establish operations within a well-structured ecosystem, benefiting from infrastructure investments while accessing Central Asian markets. The digital infrastructure component of the cooperation could also improve logistics efficiency and business connectivity, making Uzbekistan more attractive for foreign direct investment in manufacturing sectors.
