Central Asia becomes new frontier for building technology showcase

20-22 May 2026 • Intelligent Building Expo

Messe Frankfurt will launch its first technical trade fair in Uzbekistan with the Intelligent Building Expo 2026, scheduled for 20-22 May 2026 in Tashkent. The new event combines product areas from the organizer’s established brands Light + Building, ISH, and Intersec, focusing on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water supply, lighting, building automation, security technology, and IT security.

“With our strong trade fair brands Light + Building, ISH and Intersec, Messe Frankfurt has the leading events relating to integrated and smart building technology, security technology and fire protection in its portfolio,” said Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Messe Frankfurt. “We are very pleased that the Intelligent Building Expo will now allow us to bring together selected product areas from all three of these trade fairs.”

The platform targets manufacturers, project developers, architects, engineers, and government representatives, positioning itself as a professional hub for urban infrastructure solutions. This marks Messe Frankfurt’s eighth specialist event in Uzbekistan, following Automechanika Tashkent, Comtrux Tashkent, Scalex Tashkent, Heimtextil Uzbekistan, Texworld Tashkent, Apparel Sourcing Tashkent, and Beautyworld Central Asia.

Strategic Partnership Drives Regional Expansion

Messe Frankfurt collaborates with Business Media Central Asia (BMCA), its longstanding regional partner, which will organize the event under license covering both Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The partnership reflects the company’s strategic approach to expanding its presence in Central Asian markets.

Growing Market Potential in Central Asia

Uzbekistan has emerged as one of Central Asia’s most dynamic economic regions, with over 57,000 active companies operating in construction, engineering, and urban development sectors. The country’s strong investment growth, comprehensive reforms, and diverse industrial landscape create significant demand for energy efficiency, water management, and building security solutions.

The European Union’s €12 billion investment package, announced at the first EU-Central Asia Summit in Samarkand in April 2025, underscores the region’s strategic importance. The investment focuses on energy, infrastructure, and digital connectivity, aligning with the expo’s technology showcase objectives and supporting sustainable development initiatives across Central Asia.
