Canton Fair delegation and Uzbekistan agree to boost business ties and explore new trade opportunities

On July 30, Dilshod Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, met with a delegation from the Canton Fair, China’s largest international trade exhibition.

Established in 1957 and held biannually in Guangzhou, the Canton Fair is one of the most prestigious trade platforms worldwide. It encompasses over 25,000 companies across more than 50 industries with participants from over 200 countries and regions.

At the meeting, Liu Xiaomin, General Director for Exhibition and Fair Activities at the China Foreign Trade Centre, presented new opportunities geared towards Uzbek entrepreneurs. Key topics included participation in the fair, expanding access to new markets, and establishing direct contacts with Chinese partners.

The parties agreed to intensify the involvement of Uzbek business representatives in the Canton Fair and organize joint business forums and B2B meetings to facilitate deeper cooperation.

Growing potential for Uzbek businesses in international trade platforms

This development aligns with Uzbekistan’s broader efforts to invigorate international trade links and promote business delegations’ participation in key global exhibitions. Such engagement helps local companies gain visibility, find partnership opportunities, and enter new markets.

Uzbekistan’s Chamber of Commerce, under leadership figures like Deputy Chairman Rasulov who is active in fostering multiple international collaborations, is actively pursuing partnerships beyond China, including recent discussions with regions in Russia and the Baltic, strengthening the country’s export and investment climate.

Implications for manufacturing, construction, and furniture sectors

For international companies in the furniture, interior design, manufacturing, and construction sectors, Uzbekistan’s increased engagement with the Canton Fair and other international trade avenues signals growing market openness and access to diverse suppliers and partners.

The accord to intensify business forums and B2B interactions offers an enhanced platform to explore supply chain synergies, source new inputs, and introduce foreign furniture and interior brands into Uzbek markets more effectively.

Moreover, as Uzbekistan continues its push for regulatory support and infrastructure development, these moves collectively improve the overall ease of doing business and bring promising prospects for investment and trade expansion in construction materials, design services, and allied industries.

In essence, the deepening trade ties with China, exemplified by the heightened Uzbek participation in the Canton Fair, open new corridors for international companies seeking to invest, supply, or partner in Central Asia’s evolving markets, particularly in high-growth sectors like manufacturing, construction, and interior solutions.
