A critical piece of this transformation is a newly completed transport corridor linking Jizzakh city directly to the M–39 international highway. Complementing the transport developments is an integrated atomic power station under construction in the region, featuring two small reactors and two larger units. Current work focuses on excavation of reactor building foundations and preparation of the construction site, including land leveling, concrete work, and reinforcement installation. The project includes temporary housing facilities for the construction workforce.
Supporting this major energy project are plans to localize production of construction materials needed for the station and to expand technical training capacity in regional universities. These measures aim to build domestic supply chains and develop a skilled workforce capable of supporting both construction and eventual operation phases.
Urban renovation and residential construction
Jizzakh is also undergoing a comprehensive urban renewal program focused on its gateway areas. The renovation plan calls for replacing aging residential stock with modern, safe, and comfortable housing. The city is simultaneously developing new purpose-built facilities including an IT center and crafts center, alongside reconstruction of district complexes and streetscape improvements in high-traffic areas.
The region is planning a specialized monotown for atomic station specialists and their families, situated 16 kilometers from the plant. Designed to accommodate 10,000 residents, the settlement will include complete infrastructure, social facilities, and service amenities — a significant construction undertaking in itself.
