A new wave of Chinese investment is set to transform Uzbekistan’s Fergana region as local authorities secure partnerships for cutting-edge industrial development. The region’s governor Khairillo Bozorov recently concluded strategic discussions with Deng Siyuan, International Relations Director of Chinese consulting firm Gascia-Aksu Alliance, marking a significant step forward in bilateral manufacturing cooperation.
Gascia-Aksu Alliance brings specialized expertise in industrial zone construction and management, combined with proven investment attraction capabilities. The partnership emerged from a productive delegation visit by Fergana representatives to China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, where both sides identified concrete opportunities for import substitution manufacturing.
Strategic industrial zone development
The centerpiece of this collaboration will be the special industrial zone “Fergana — New Opportunities,” spanning 52 hectares in Furkat district. This strategically positioned facility will house pharmaceutical production facilities and air purification system manufacturing plants, addressing both local market demands and export potential across the broader Central Asian region.
Chinese partners outlined a comprehensive development framework featuring modern enterprise construction and active entrepreneur engagement from China. The initiative represents a calculated approach to technology transfer and industrial modernization, with both sides emphasizing the substantial economic impact expected for the region.
Governor Bozorov pledged full administrative support for investor initiatives, ensuring streamlined processes and comprehensive assistance throughout project implementation. The regional administration committed to removing bureaucratic barriers and providing necessary infrastructure support to accelerate development timelines.
Following intensive negotiations, both parties agreed to intensify collaborative efforts and expedite practical implementation steps. The partnership framework establishes clear pathways for expanding cooperation beyond the initial pharmaceutical and air purification sectors.
Strategic implications for international business
This development opens substantial opportunities for international companies across multiple sectors. The pharmaceutical manufacturing component creates immediate prospects for equipment suppliers, raw material providers, and technology partners seeking access to Central Asian markets. Air purification system production addresses growing environmental concerns throughout the region, potentially attracting partnerships from environmental technology firms and industrial air quality specialists.
The industrial zone’s strategic positioning in Fergana region — a traditional manufacturing hub with established logistics networks — offers international businesses enhanced market access throughout Uzbekistan and neighboring countries. Companies in pharmaceutical packaging, medical equipment, environmental monitoring systems, and related manufacturing technologies may find significant partnership and supply opportunities as these projects advance toward operational status.
