Uzbek officials tasked with increasing new housing construction volume by 1.5 times

The President of Uzbekistan has set a task for officials to increase the volume of new housing construction by 1.5 times by 2023.

The state program, which involves the construction of 31 new residential districts, was launched in 2022. However, at the moment, the project is successfully being implemented only in the Andijan and Khorezm regions. In some regions, there are delays in commissioning a certain part of the housing – from 14 to 80 high-rise buildings. In the Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya, Surkhandarya, Navoi and Samarkand regions, not a single house has been commissioned. Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized the work of the hokims in these regions and gave them a month to rectify the situation.

New measures to support citizens in obtaining mortgage loans and subsidies have also been announced. Thus, from May 1, even citizens with insufficient official income will be able to take out a loan to purchase real estate.
