(+45%) Exports to Kyrgyzstan • Jan-Dec 2021/20

In 2021, the volume of furniture exports from Russia to Kyrgyzstan reached 12.1 million USD. This represents a 45.4% increase to the corresponding period of the previous year. This gross estimation also includes parts of furniture, mattresses, bedding, mattress supports, healthcare and other professional furniture, so the HS codes 9401, 9402, 9403, 9404 are considered.

The share of Kyrgyzstan in Russian furniture exports is as much as 1.81% in 2021, which is lower than in 2019 (2.51%) but higher than in 2020 (1.78%).

Furniture exports to Kyrgyzstan consist mainly of

  • parts (14.3%), with wooden parts being the top product groups here,
  • wooden furniture for dining and living rooms, priced higher than 1.8 EUR per kilo (7.8%),
  • metal furniture excluding beds or professional furniture (7.5%),
  • seating furniture convertible into a bed (7%),
  • upholstered seating furniture with wooden frames (6.9%),
  • wooden furniture for dining and living rooms, priced up to 1.8 EUR per kilo (6.7%),
  • upholstered seating furniture with metal frames excluding swivel chairs (6.2%),
  • wooden furniture for bedrooms, priced up to 1.8 EUR per kilo (5.7%),
  • swivel chairs with variable height adjustment excluding medical, surgical, dental, or veterinary (5.2%),
  • and wooden furniture for bedrooms, priced higher than 1.8 EUR per kilo (5%).

These categories together provide more than 72% of the total value of furniture exported to this country. Each other furniture category accounts for 3% or less.

The growth in 2021 was mainly driven by

  • wooden furniture for dining and living rooms, priced higher than 1.8 EUR per kilo (+70%),
  • metal furniture excluding beds or professional furniture (+93%),
  • wooden furniture for dining and living rooms, priced up to 1.8 EUR per kilo (+64%),
  • upholstered seating furniture with metal frames excluding swivel chairs (+125%),
  • swivel chairs with variable height adjustment excluding medical, surgical, dental, or veterinary (+64%),
  • wooden furniture for bedrooms, priced higher than 1.8 EUR per kilo (+49%).

Some smaller scale categories also showed a higher than average increase, for instance:

  • other wooden furniture excluding for offices, kitchens, bedrooms or seats, priced higher than 1.8 EUR per kilo (+69%),
  • furniture of other materials, including cane, osier or similar ones (+117%).

The average price for furniture exported to this country is higher than average, and the annual trend is upward. In 2021, the average price declared at customs reached 2.17 USD per kilo (previously 1.69 USD in 2019 and 1.63 USD in 2020). This growth goes hand in hand with general annual increase of the average price for Russian furniture exports.

The weighted average of the currency exchange rate was 73.6541 RUB for 1 USD in the current period under review. This rate shall be used to accurately convert the exported value to rubles.

Evidently, numbers are subject to change: the Customs update their analytics retrospectively, even a long time after the reporting period is finished.
