Regional supply chains meet global demand in Bogotá

Post-show report • interzum bogota 2026

interzum bogota 2026 has closed its third edition under the interzum brand in Colombia with nearly 11,000 trade visitors, close to 200 exhibiting companies from 19 countries and more than 60 content sessions, strengthening its market position and attracting a highly qualified and professional audience.

Organised by Koelnmesse and its partner Corferias, the trade fair – the 17th edition of the event previously known as La Feria Mueble y Madera – brought together business, knowledge, sustainability, design, specialised supplies and regional networking at Corferias in Bogotá.

Beyond the headline figures, exhibitors reported a clear improvement in visitor profile, with buyers showing stronger commercial affinity, professionals directly involved in specification decisions and companies actively searching for suppliers and long-term partnerships.

Visitor profile and regional reach

According to participating companies, this edition confirmed the fair’s role as a gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. “We were positively surprised by how the trade fair works as a strategic access point to Central and Latin American markets. We had conversations with visitors from countries such as Panama, Guatemala and Costa Rica, among others, which opens up new opportunities and confirms interzum bogota as a relevant meeting point for the industry,” said Joaquín Verdú Hernández, Sales Director at Verdú, Spain.

The exhibition floor featured a strong mix of Colombian and international brands. Local companies such as Pelikano, Primadera, Toin, Ducasse, Sierras y Equipos and Espumas Santafé shared the halls with global names including Kronospan, Jowat, Hettich, Simonswerk, Biesse, Bäumer, Barrette Wood, Vantec and Cortecloud, showcasing solutions that span materials and components, machinery, software, forestry and specialised supplies for furniture manufacturing and interior construction.

For the organisers, the results underline how the fair has moved beyond its local origins to assume a wider regional role. “This edition gives us a very positive reading: Latin America and the Caribbean are participating more strongly in the international conversation around the furniture, wood, materials and space design industry,” said Angélica Garzón, Project Manager at Koelnmesse.

Business Matchmaking delivers measurable results

The Business Matchmaking programme, held on 13 and 14 May with the support of ProColombia, connected 50 buyers from Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela with 70 exhibiting companies, including 23 community forestry initiatives supported by WWF to promote responsible forest management and legal timber.

Over the two days, 378 business meetings were registered and business expectations exceeded USD 3 million, with concrete deals closed during the fair and additional opportunities projected for up to 12 months after the event.

Exhibitors highlighted both the growth and the quality of contacts achieved through this format. “The growth compared to the previous edition has been very noticeable. This year we received many more international visitors, and the quality of the Colombian visitors was also very high. The fair allowed us to close business during the event and connect with highly relevant profiles for our market,” said Hernán Osorio, Sales Manager LATAM at Hettich.

From the venue operator’s perspective, the performance of the fair confirmed its value for the local and regional industry. “At Corferias, we work to ensure that interzum bogota is a beneficial trade fair for those who come to do business, update themselves and find solutions for their companies. This edition showed a positive response from the sector, with more specialised visitors, a solid agenda and a trade show that connected real needs with national and international suppliers,” said Ana Garibello, Project Manager at Corferias for interzum bogota.

Content platforms extend the conversation

Under the concept “Roots of the Future”, interzum bogota 2026 complemented the exhibition with a commercial, academic and practical programme that broadened the sector’s conversation on sustainability, design, technology, technical training, the forest economy, timber construction, bioeconomy and new production models.

Smart Talks, developed together with ACAI, the Colombian Association of Interior Architecture, offered conference content for architects, designers and specifiers, while the Creative & Innovation HUB, organised with SENA, the national technical training institution, provided workshops, demonstrations and applied exercises focused on processes, technologies and productive skills.

Forestry-related topics were addressed in depth through Wood Talks and the Wood and Furniture Forum, organised with the support of Fedemaderas, the association representing the forest and wood value chain in Colombia. These spaces gathered experts, institutions and allies such as WWF and Community Forests to discuss legal timber, traceability, conservation, communities, timber construction and regional competitiveness.

Sustainability and forest economy in focus

This edition also incorporated a concrete sustainability action by measuring and compensating the trade fair’s carbon footprint, in a process led by Community Forests, an environmental ally with experience in forest conservation and work with local communities.

The initiative brought the sustainability theme into a practical discussion for the sector – from measuring impacts to compensating them and linking participating companies with conservation models on the ground.

Fedemaderas and WWF supported the technical agenda with criteria on the responsible use of timber, traceability, forest legality and the role of communities along the production chain, reinforcing the fair’s emphasis on a competitive and sustainable forest economy.

Next edition scheduled for 2028

The organisers have confirmed that the next edition of interzum bogota will take place from 9 to 12 May 2028 at Corferias, continuing the fair’s evolution as a platform connecting technology, materials, components, machinery, technical knowledge and specialised buyers across Latin America and the Caribbean.
