The interior design event idd cologne will return for its second edition in 2026, taking place on 30 and 31 October as part of a newly coordinated trade fair week in Cologne. The event will again transform the city into a platform for high-end home living and design culture, but this time in direct conjunction with ORGATEC (27 to 30 October 2026), the leading international trade fair for workspace and contract solutions.
This strategic pairing creates a comprehensive event week addressing industry demand for an effective platform spanning workspace, contract, and premium residential interior design. Together, the events form a powerful offering for the entire interior design and furnishing solutions sector.
HybridID: Bridging Workspace and Residential Design
A key innovation for the 2026 edition is the introduction of the hybridID concept, which combines workspace, contract, and residential design under one coordinated framework. Halls 3.2 and 4.2 are designated for the hybridID area, enabling exhibitors at ORGATEC to target trade visitors from office, contract, and public space segments. Notably, on Friday afternoon and Saturday, these halls will open to a broader audience under the idd cologne brand, specifically welcoming interior professionals and design-interested private visitors.
Sharpened Focus on Residential Excellence
The 2026 edition will sharpen its focus on the residential sector, specifically targeting high-quality home living, interior design trends, materials, and design concepts for private living spaces. This positioning appeals equally to interior design professionals and private visitors interested in contemporary design.
Building on Strong Foundation
The inaugural 2025 edition demonstrated significant potential for an urban interior design event format. With 106 participating brands operating from 16 locations across Cologne and approximately 10,000 registered visitors, the event’s debut proved that both the industry and premium interior design community have strong appetite for the format.
"The positive response to idd cologne 2025 clearly demonstrated the value of holding an urban interior design event in Cologne," noted Matthias Pollmann, Vice President Trade Fair Management at Koelnmesse. "We experienced how brands and visitors engaged with the event in a variety of ways – as a source of inspiration, as a platform for design culture and as a hub for a community keen to exchange ideas, discover high-end furnishings and pick up fresh ideas."
The coordinated trade fair week reestablishes Cologne’s role as a significant interior design hub, offering industry participants a unified platform for both workspace and residential design sectors.
