Momentum builds as early commitments reshape the interior business landscape

19-22 Jan 2027 • imm cologne

imm cologne is reporting a strong response from the market following the close of its early-bird period for the 2027 edition, which will take place in Cologne from 19 to 22 January 2027. By the end of April, the booked exhibition space for the Interior Business Event corresponded to just under 60 per cent of the space occupied at the previous edition of the trade fair, with the area currently planned already around three times larger than at the same point in the previous year.

At the end of the early-bird phase on 30 April 2026, the planned gross exhibition space for imm cologne 2027 amounted to approximately 63,500 square metres. Companies from a total of twelve countries have already registered, underlining the international appeal of the event as a key meeting place for the consumer-oriented interior design industry.

“The current level of registrations is in line with our expectations and shows that the market approves of imm cologne’s new direction. Achieving so much interest from high-calibre exhibitors at this early stage is especially pleasing. The positive trends we’re seeing in terms of our international representation and booked exhibition space give us the confidence to continue on the path we’ve chosen and to further refine imm cologne’s concept,” says Bernd Sanden, the trade fair’s director.

Early-bird bookings highlight exhibitor confidence

The early-bird results indicate that imm cologne 2027 is on course for a substantial and diverse marketplace. The volume of space already reserved suggests that many regular exhibitors have confirmed their participation early, and that additional players from across Europe see the event as an efficient way to present their portfolios at the start of the business year.

The trade fair team notes that the strong interim figures reflect not only the appeal of the Cologne location but also the revised concept of the event. The organisers have designed the participation model to be as straightforward as possible, using a broad range of all-in-one stand construction packages and clearly structured terms to lower the threshold for companies looking to exhibit.

As a result, imm cologne is positioning itself even more clearly as a business platform for German and European manufacturers. The show concentrates on high-demand home furniture that is ready for the market, covering segments from the entry-level price point up to the mid-range. This focus is intended to support efficient ordering processes and fast decision-making for buyers and procurement teams.

Concept sharpened on consumer-oriented interiors

In its redefined profile, imm cologne is concentrating on its role as an Interior Business Event – a tightly focused B2B platform for consumer-oriented interior design. The emphasis is on products that are close to the end consumer and can be swiftly integrated into retail assortments, whether through brick-and-mortar channels or online offerings.

The trade fair will continue to rely on established strengths that are valued by the market: a clear focus on trade visitors, early dates at the beginning of the year and a high level of international reach. The timing in January allows buyers, purchasing associations and retailers to align their assortments and campaigns at an early stage and to react quickly to emerging trends in style, function and pricing.

For exhibitors, this clear B2B orientation means direct access to relevant decision-makers in the consumer-oriented furnishing sector. For visitors, it offers a concentrated overview of market-ready collections and new launches along the entire spectrum from volume-driven furniture ranges to more design-led mid-range solutions.

International visitor mix strengthens sourcing role

The organisers are building on the strong visitor profile achieved at the previous edition of imm cologne, where the proportion of international visitors already exceeded 50 per cent. Among them were numerous decision-makers from the international furniture trade, including purchasing associations, retail chains, wholesalers, specialist and online retailers and mail order businesses.

This mix of professional attendees is expected to once again make imm cologne a crucial platform in 2027 for ordering, initiating new business and gaining market orientation. Exhibitors will benefit from targeted access to the German furniture market – one of Europe’s key consumer markets – while at the same time reaching important buyer groups from across Central Europe.

By combining early-year scheduling, a sharpened concept focused on consumer-oriented interiors and strong early-bird bookings, imm cologne aims to provide a compact yet comprehensive marketplace where supply and demand in the home furnishings sector can meet efficiently over four days in Cologne.
