Global connectivity reshapes lighting and building technology sector

Light + Building will welcome approximately 2,000 national and international exhibitors from 8 to 13 March 2026 in Frankfurt am Main. The trade fair, organized by Messe Frankfurt, continues to serve as the world’s leading platform for lighting and building services technology, bringing together manufacturers, designers, planners and industry professionals to address current market challenges and showcase emerging solutions. International exhibitors represent 75 per cent of participants, with strong representation from China, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, France, Austria and the United Kingdom.

Light + Building is the place where the industry’s key needs become visible – from the interplay of energy-efficient technology, digital connectivity and lighting in all its facets to solutions addressing high construction and energy costs, skills shortages and renovation pressures.”

Lighting Sector Exhibitors and Hall Layout

Approximately 60 per cent of exhibitors represent the lighting sector, distributed across the eastern section of the exhibition grounds. Technical lighting solutions for workplaces, educational facilities, industry and public spaces are featured in Halls 3.0, 4.0, 4.1, 5.1 and the Forum, where exhibitors including AEC Illuminazione, BEGA, Brumberg, Glamox, Ledvance, Molto Luce, Normagrup, RZB and Zumtobel Group Deutschland present efficient and standards-compliant solutions.

Urban and outdoor lighting concepts occupy Hall 4.0, featuring companies such as Benito Urban, C. & G. Carandini, Elektro-Lumen, GMR Enlights and Leipziger Leuchten. Emergency, safety and specialised lighting are also presented in Hall 4.1, with exhibitors including Awex, Fischer, GSYSTEMS, Inotec and RP-Technik.

Hall 3.1 concentrates on design-oriented luminaires and lighting effects, with companies including 3F Filippi, Ideal Lux, Kreon, Leds C4, Lightnet, Linea Light and Serien Lighting demonstrating how design ambition and technical innovation intersect. Decorative luminaires for residential and hospitality applications are showcased in Hall 6 by participants including Elstead Lighting, Nordlux and Nova Luce. Lighting components and intelligent control systems are displayed in Hall 8, where Bender & Wirth, BJB, Casambi, Osram and Vossloh-Schwabe present technological foundations for connected lighting and smart building applications. The Asia Selection spans Halls 10.1, 10.2 and 10.3.

Building Technology and Automation

The western section accommodates approximately 40 per cent of exhibitors, with Halls 9, 11 and 12 dedicated to electrical engineering, home and building automation. Solutions for electrical installation, charging infrastructure and energy management are featured on levels 12.0 and 12.1, where participants including ABB, Busch-Jaeger, Hager, KNX, Mennekes and Schneider Electric present intelligent energy control and renewable energy integration systems.

Hall 11 showcases automation platforms and design-oriented electrical installations, with exhibitors such as Albrecht Jung, Beckhoff, Eaton, Esylux, Gira Giersiepen, Legrand, Rittal, Siemens and Wago demonstrating network technology and building automation solutions. Hall 9 expands the offering to include security technology, with integrated solutions presented by BACnet/Tema, EnOcean, Dahua and Thermokon, emphasizing systems that combine protection, comfort and efficiency for intelligent buildings.
