Design innovation meets global commerce in Southeast Asia

4–7 Mar 2026 • MIFF

The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) returns for its 32nd edition on 4–7 March 2026 across two venues in Kuala Lumpur: the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) and the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL). Operating under its signature concept of 1 Fair, 2 Venues, 17 Halls, MIFF 2026 will span 100,000 square metres of exhibition space and bring together more than 700 exhibitors with an expected 20,000 buyers from 140 countries and regions.

According to Ms. Kelie Lim, General Manager of MIFF, the event has established itself as a critical platform for the region’s furniture makers. “This year’s MIFF marks more than 30 years of global industry trust for an event with proven sales performance and a consistent track record of connecting global buyers and sellers to deliver real business opportunities. It has also provided unmatched international exposure for brands seeking to grow beyond borders, celebrates heritage craftsmanship and champions new design trends and technologies.”

Strong performance reinforces regional standing

The previous edition generated an estimated USD1.31 billion in on-site sales, representing a 3% increase from the year prior. This performance reflects Malaysia’s position among the world’s top 10 furniture exporters, with approximately 80% of its production directed to international markets. The country’s furniture industry generates approximately USD4.2 billion in revenue annually, supported by its export infrastructure, skilled workforce, and strategic location.

MIFF continues to benefit from the “China+1” sourcing strategy as international buyers seek alternatives. The fair’s new partnership with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) as International Trade Partner aims to leverage MATRADE’s network to further promote Malaysian furniture globally.

Design innovation and regional collaboration

MIFF’s commitment to design excellence is underscored by the Furniture Design Competition (MIFF FDC), now in its 16th edition. This year’s theme – Playful. Practical. Purposeful: Furniture for Generation Alpha – challenges designers to create bedroom furniture for children aged 5–9 that combines imagination with practicality. A newly launched MIFF FDC CLUB connects design talent with manufacturers, offering industry-exclusive access to facility tours and prototype development.

MIFF 2026 introduces FurniFusion, a new concept at WTCKL organised around three pillars: Live, Work and Play. The Live section features a Made-in-Malaysia Hall blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design; the Work segment includes MIFF OFFICE, described as Southeast Asia’s largest office furniture showcase; and the Play component, called The Muse, addresses lifestyle and décor products. Returning highlights include Kuala Lumpur iDesign Week, a collaboration with Guangzhou Design Week, and the My Favourite International Design (MFID) Awards.

The xOrdinary Design Showcase, themed Happiness, returns to promote independent creativity and unconventional design concepts.

Sustainability and digital integration

MIFF 2026 emphasises sustainability through its Tree Planting Campaign in Sabah, resuming after its 2024 launch. The initiative now incorporates enhanced digital integration via the MIFF Furniverse App, which provides interactive floor plans, intelligent lead retrieval tools for exhibitors and virtual participation options.

According to Ms. Kelie Lim, “MIFF solidifies our long-term vision to further bolster Malaysia’s status on the global platform as a key player in the quality furniture industry. On a larger scale, it looks to elevate the global furniture industry.”

Early bird registration

Trade visitors can register for free admission before 13 February 2026, saving the RM30 entrance fee while gaining access to MIFF’s exclusive buyer privilege programmes designed to enhance sourcing efficiency.
