The inaugural Interior Design Days will transform Cologne into a decentralized showcase from 26 to 29 October 2025, featuring around 100 premium brands across 15 venues throughout the city. The event introduces a unique urban-only concept, presenting collections and new launches in special exhibitions, interior design stores and showrooms rather than traditional exhibition halls.
“We’re looking ahead to the inaugural edition of idd cologne with great anticipation,” says Maik Fischer, the trade fair’s director. “Together with our partners, we are creating a premium event that will fill Cologne with international design, inspiring formats and a vibrant exchange of ideas. idd cologne is conceived as an open forum for everyone with an interest in contemporary home lifestyles and interior decor – a get-together for the design scene and a place that is devoted to ideas, conversations and celebrating the community feeling.”
Architonic Talks bring industry expertise to the forefront
The Architonic Talks, hosted by DAAily Editor-in-Chief Simon Keane-Cowel, will present new concepts developed by leading creatives across the first three days at Design Post Köln and the Stoff-Pavillon Moeller. The sessions blend personal experiences with inspiring success stories, offering orientation in contemporary interior design while fostering direct audience dialogue for networking opportunities.
Dutch architect Jeroen Steenvoorden from studio PROTOTYPE will kick off with “Form Follows Material”, exploring how materials shape form, construction and detailing. Swiss-born designer This Weber will discuss “Tough Love: Durability and Passion”, focusing on lasting stylistic impact in his work for brands including atelier pfister, Rolf Benz and Very Wood. London’s 2LG Studio representatives Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead will examine how spaces promote well-being in “Well, Well: The Comfort of Spaces”, emphasizing color’s role as a fundamental design tool. Zurich-based interior designer Mia Kepenek concludes with “The Silent Luxury”, explaining evolving expectations from younger audiences for branded environments.
Urban Design Walks provide guided exploration
Interior design expert Petra Linn from PURE Linn will lead Urban Design Walks for trade and private visitors, offering organized overviews of significant new launches and innovations. The guided tours cover exhibitor venues like Design Post and Stoff-Pavillon Moeller, plus participating showrooms and stores citywide, combining informative content with hands-on experiences and networking opportunities.
Partner events extend celebration across the city
Participating showrooms and stores will stage independently curated events throughout the duration. Bretz and SCHÖNER WOHNEN celebrate anniversaries exploring tradition, passion and innovation in modern home living. Becker Interior hosts a Gin Tonic Night for convivial exchanges, while denisoberender combines architect talks with whisky and wine tasting. Additional programming includes bulthaup smow’s design sale, Jan Kath’s champagne breakfast with string quartet, and Biomöbel Genske’s diverse program featuring Culinary Kitchen Day with Gaggenau consultation, autumn family festival, and Team 7’s “Smoked Oak” exhibition.
