Half a century of progress meets tomorrow’s challenges

26-30 May 2025 • LIGNA

As the 50th anniversary edition of LIGNA approaches, preparations are in full swing for the world’s leading trade fair for the woodworking and wood processing industry, scheduled for May 2025. With 1,337 exhibitors already registered — surpassing the 2023 edition — and 112,772 square meters of exhibition space booked, this milestone event promises to drive industry innovation while addressing current challenges.

A milestone for the woodworking industry

“This year’s strong participation highlights the industry’s resilience despite a challenging economic climate,” said Stephanie Wagner, Head of LIGNA at Deutsche Messe. “In terms of exhibitor numbers, we have exceeded the level of the previous event and are close to the 2023 figure for exhibition space.” Wagner added that the anniversary, coupled with exhibitors’ innovative product launches, is expected to motivate investment and inspire visitors.

LIGNA.TruckStop: a dynamic new format

A standout feature of this year’s show is LIGNA.TruckStop, a unique outdoor experience near Hall 12. Five leading companies, including Festool, Hettich, Makita, SawStop, and Swiss Krono, will showcase products directly from mobile show trucks.

“At SawStop, safety and precision are at the core of everything we do. LIGNA.TruckStop provides a unique opportunity to showcase our industry-leading AIM (Active Injury Mitigation) safety technology directly to skilled tradespeople,” said Daan ter Haar, Head of Marketing at SawStop Europe.

The program includes expert interviews, hands-on demonstrations, and networking opportunities, such as a daily “Happy Hour” from 5 to 6 p.m. Stephanie Wagner noted, “We are thrilled with the positive response to LIGNA.TruckStop, which offers an exciting new platform for interaction tailored to joiners, carpenters, and interior fitters.”

Sustainability in focus with LIGNA.Circular

The second new feature, LIGNA.Circular, will spotlight sustainable value creation through six themed islands located around the LIGNA.Stage in Hall 12. Organized in collaboration with CADEMI, this initiative explores circular economy innovations in materials, processes, and business models.

“At LIGNA.Circular, Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe is adding an exciting focus with the topic ‘Material flows of wood,’” said Dr. Andreas Schütte, Managing Director at Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe. “Our goal is to highlight developments in efficient wood usage and research within the circular economy.”

Key contributors include the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research (WKI), the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM), and hagebau Holzhandel, whose Head of Sales Specialist Trade, Andreas Wiemers, emphasized: “The future of construction is circular, and we support professionals in shaping this transformation.”

A platform for innovation and collaboration

LIGNA 2025 continues its tradition of uniting global exhibitors and professionals, showcasing solutions ranging from advanced machinery to sustainable materials. By combining its historical significance with fresh concepts like LIGNA.TruckStop and LIGNA.Circular, the event remains a cornerstone for driving innovation and sustainability in the woodworking and wood processing industries.
