Next October, Cologne will host a new premium interior design event, idd cologne, dedicated to high-end residential, hotel, and catering solutions. The debut trade fair aims to unite Europe’s high-end interior community, showcasing strong brands, innovative designs, and cutting-edge trends while welcoming both industry professionals and the public.
A Platform for Leading Brands and Innovative Concepts
With notable names like Bielefelder Werkstätten/JAB ANSTOETZ, Bretz, COR, interlübke, and Kettnaker already confirmed, the event promises a comprehensive exploration of contemporary living spaces. “We are delighted with the strong interest the industry has shown in idd cologne,” said Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse GmbH. “We’re receiving new registrations almost daily, and we’re brimming with anticipation for this autumn’s trade fair.”
Leo Lübke, President of the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM), emphasized the event’s strategic timing: “With its prime October date and focus on fostering business connections, this is the ideal platform for companies to prepare for successful product launches in spring.”
Holistic Interior Design and Premium Offerings
idd cologne’s innovative approach focuses on living spaces as integrated ensembles rather than isolated products. Wolfgang Kettnaker, Managing Partner of Kettnaker GmbH, noted: “Furnishing is about the interplay of space, materials, light, and ambience. idd cologne brings this to life, inspiring both trade visitors and design enthusiasts.”
The event will cover a diverse array of offerings, from indoor and outdoor furniture to kitchens, bathroom fittings, decorative lighting, and bespoke interior construction. To broaden its scope, idd cologne will be co-located with aquanale, the International Trade Fair for Sauna, Pool, and Ambience, on October 28 and 29, enhancing its appeal to the wellness and sauna market.
Creating a Hub for Business and Creativity
As a major industry gathering, idd cologne will attract premium furniture retailers, contract furnishers, hospitality planners, and design professionals. Members of the public with an interest in exclusive interiors will also have access, alongside media representatives and industry partners.
The event will extend into Cologne’s cityscape through the “idd cologne downtown” program, featuring exhibitions, showrooms, and creative hotspots. “The cathedral city is the perfect canvas for the design scene,” noted the organizers, highlighting Cologne’s long history as a furniture and design hub.
A Strong Team Behind the Premiere
The debut event is led by experienced industry professionals. Maik Fischer, Director of idd cologne and interzum, brings a decade of trade fair expertise, while renowned Creative Director Dick Spierenburg lends his vision to the concept. Held biennially in October, the event will debut in Halls 2 and 3 at Koelnmesse.
