Circular solutions take center stage at furniture industry summit

Global anticipation is mounting for the furniture and interior design industry’s most significant trade gathering, scheduled to take place in Cologne from 20 to 23 May 2025. The impressive registration numbers demonstrate the industry’s commitment to innovation despite ongoing economic and social challenges worldwide.

The comprehensive exhibition will showcase the full spectrum of the furniture production and interior design value chain, from high-quality materials and surface finishes to smart components and cutting-edge technologies. The event serves as the primary innovation hub for the sector, where numerous new product launches will be unveiled to the public for the first time.

Central theme for 2025: Rethinking Resources

Sustainability remains the overarching focus for the exhibition. Under the central theme “Rethinking Resources: Circular and Biobased Solutions,” the trade fair will emphasize material cycles and innovative biobased materials. Resource-efficient production processes, crucial to the industry’s future development, will feature prominently in both exhibitor presentations and the comprehensive event programme.

Industry event delivers added value

The Boulevard North stage will offer enhanced programming with two distinct formats. The interzum Trend Stage will provide exclusive insights into market trends in furniture, materials and interior design, while the Product Stage will showcase top companies presenting their innovative products and corporate visions. Trend forums will address critical industry issues, exploring topics such as biocircular materials, intelligent resource utilization and digital product passports.

The prestigious interzum award will recognize exceptionally innovative products, production processes and materials developed by international furniture industry suppliers. An international expert jury will evaluate 145 entries submitted by 80 exhibitors from 25 countries, with prizes awarded across four categories including the new “Rethinking Resources” category. Prize-winning exhibits will be displayed in a dedicated exhibition on the Boulevard North.
