Showcasing the next wave of global flooring innovations

Post-show report • DOMOTEX Middle East 2024

The Dubai World Trade Centre was abuzz as DOMOTEX Middle East 2024 wrapped up its three-day event. Dawood Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, inaugurated the exhibition that brought together over 100 exhibitors from around the world, reflecting Dubai’s pivotal role in the global trade and innovation landscape, particularly within the flooring industry.

Iran, UAE, Turkey, Egypt, and China were the top five countries represented, demonstrating the international scope and relevance of the event. The diversity and quality of products on display were significant, with groundbreaking designs setting the course for the future of flooring.

Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global Director of DOMOTEX at Deutsche Messe AG, expressed her appreciation for the UAE’s support, noting, “The dynamic trade environment in Dubai has been crucial to the success of this year’s exhibition.”

Highlights of the event included Heritage Carpet by Ghanbarinia’s display of 45 exceptional antique handmade carpets, aligning with UAE’s cultural advancement efforts. These rugs, part of a collection valued at $500 million, ranged from the 17th to the 19th centuries, underscoring the historical and cultural richness of the offerings.

The Design Lounge was transformed into a hub of creativity and style by True Design and Moooi Carpets, where visitors admired the fusion of fine furniture and innovative textile designs. The lounge exemplified a perfect blend of form and function, pushing the boundaries of traditional decor.

The exhibition also unveiled the largest carpet ever displayed at DOMOTEX, a 600m² piece from the Tabriz Premium Silk Warp collection, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship typical of Middle Eastern handmade carpets.

‘Bog Pearl’ by Ryser Böden was introduced, featuring a unique bog oak hardwood floor made from trees aged between 3000 and 7000 years. This rare material, crafted into an intricate parquet design, highlighted the luxurious offerings available to Dubai’s elite.

Standard Carpet, the UAE’s largest carpet manufacturer, emphasized sustainability with its latest eco-friendly solutions, demonstrating the industry’s commitment to reducing environmental impact without compromising on quality or design.

Wedell-Castellano concluded, “DOMOTEX Middle East 2024 has once again proved to be a linchpin for the global flooring market, showcasing innovations that define the sector’s future. We look forward to continuing this legacy of excellence.”
