Hannover to host dedicated carpets and rugs showcase in odd years

16-19 Jan 2025 • DOMOTEX

Starting in January 2025, DOMOTEX will introduce a new biennial format, alternating its focus annually between carpets and rugs and the broader floor coverings industry. The Carpets & Rugs Edition, set for all odd-numbered years, will debut at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds, becoming the focal point for carpet professionals globally. In even-numbered years, including 2026, DOMOTEX will continue to encompass the entire spectrum of international floor coverings.

Under the theme ‘True Connections. Excellence in Design’, the 2025 edition will run from January 16 to 19, offering an array of innovative products and designs. Sonia Wedell-Castellano, Global Director of DOMOTEX Events worldwide, elaborated on the new strategic direction: “It was important for us to focus entirely on the needs of the industry. In close consultation with our top exhibitors and the market, we have developed a strategy to make The Carpets & Rugs Edition as compact and efficient as possible. To this end, we have adapted our supporting programme and planned new special formats and networking opportunities. Our aim is to provide all participants with a focused and productive show from which they can derive the greatest possible benefit.”

Visitors in 2025 can expect a rich selection of antique collectors’ items, timeless handmade classics, contemporary high-quality knotted products, and modern machine weavings. Hall 2 will feature unique designs and host engaging live talks, enriching the attendee experience. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Carpet Design Awards (CDA) will also be a highlight, part of the ‘DOMOTEX on Stage’ segment, with discussions from industry experts on future trends.

Another addition, the ‘Trend Café’ in Hall 3, will offer insights into future interior trends and sustainable products. This special display, complete with a coffee bar and lounge area, will serve as a prime networking spot for forging new business connections and discussing industry advancements.

Deutsche Messe AG has adjusted the frequency of DOMOTEX in response to longstanding industry demand for a two-year cycle. This change has been met with enthusiastic support, reflecting its alignment with industry needs. Stephanie Huesmann, Head of Category Management Wall, Floor and Tools at Schlau Heimtex Einkaufs GmbH, commented on the adaptation: “For many years, DOMOTEX in Hannover has been a must for us at the beginning of the year. It is where we meet many important suppliers, establish new business relationships, find out about trends and products and get a comprehensive overview of the carpet and flooring themes of the future – all in one place! By adapting the concept of the show with a rotating focus, we expect to benefit from an even better target-group oriented value.”

With these changes, DOMOTEX is set to continue as a key global platform for the flooring industry, adapting dynamically to meet evolving market demands and showcasing industry innovations in Hannover.
