Leadership restructuring aims to strengthen the division and drive global growth

Johannes Möller takes helm of building technologies shows at Messe Frankfurt

The building sector is navigating significant challenges, including rising construction costs, a skilled labor shortage, and an urgent demand for housing. At the same time, the energy transition, heating innovation, and rapid digitalization present unique opportunities for sustainable advancements. In response to these market dynamics, Messe Frankfurt has announced a strategic reorganization within its Building Technologies division, appointing a new management team to steer its flagship brands.

Johannes Möller has been named Group Show Director, Building Technologies Shows, effective immediately. Previously responsible for Light + Building, Möller successfully led the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building-services technology through four challenging years. His tenure included expanding its international presence and strengthening its strategic positioning. Since August 2024, he has also overseen the management and strategic direction of Messe Frankfurt’s Light + Building, ISH, and Intersec brands.

Iris Jeglitza-Moshage, Senior Vice President Technology at Messe Frankfurt and a long-time leader in the Building Technologies division, emphasized the significance of this appointment: “By taking this step, we have not only settled the succession for three of our most important brands at an early stage but also reinforced the managerial resources needed for our Building Technologies Industry Cluster. We are delighted that Johannes Möller, who has played a key role in the success of our international portfolio, will now concentrate fully on the strategic growth of these brands in Germany and abroad.”

Möller began his career in the trade-fair industry as a graduate exhibition, congress, and event manager, later serving as the personal assistant to the CEO of Messe Frankfurt. He took on the role of Director of Brand Management and Development, Technology, in 2017 before moving into leadership for Light + Building. His promotion to oversee the entire Building Technologies division reflects his continued contributions to Messe Frankfurt’s success.

Steffen Larbig will take over the development of Light + Building starting October 1, 2024. Highlighting Larbig’s credentials, Jeglitza-Moshage commented: “Mr. Larbig brings extensive international sales expertise, experience in key account management, and a wealth of ideas for the future direction of Light + Building.” His leadership will work in close collaboration with the experienced Light + Building team to further strengthen the brand’s global position.

This reorganization underscores Messe Frankfurt’s commitment to addressing industry challenges while fostering growth and innovation within its Building Technologies division.
