Asian Development Bank launches new five-year strategy to support Uzbekistan’s economic reforms

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has unveiled a new five-year partnership strategy with Uzbekistan for 2024-2028, according to the bank’s press service.

The strategy focuses on supporting reforms aimed at transforming Uzbekistan’s economy into a “green” and inclusive model. ADB will work closely with the government to enhance the competitiveness of the private sector and stimulate investment in human capital.

“The new ADB partnership strategy for Uzbekistan will support the country in achieving its strategic goals of transitioning to a green economy by 2030. As a long-standing and trusted partner, ADB remains committed to helping Uzbekistan maintain sustainable economic growth and reduce poverty, even in the face of global and regional challenges,” said ADB Director General for Central and West Asia, Evgeny Zhukov.

Uzbekistan has been a member of ADB since 1995, with a bank office opening in the country three years later. To date, ADB has provided Uzbekistan with $12.5 billion in loans, grants, and technical assistance.
