UAE airline Etihad launches daily Abu Dhabi Tashkent flights, strengthening Uzbekistan international connectivity

Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, is entering the Uzbek market with daily scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent from 10 August, marking a new phase in Uzbekistan’s integration into global transport and tourism networks.

New air corridor between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent

According to Uzbekistan Airports, Etihad Airways will operate the route Abu Dhabi – Tashkent – Abu Dhabi on Airbus A320 aircraft on a daily basis. The new service creates a stable air corridor between the capitals, effectively tying Uzbekistan into one of the Gulf region’s most dynamic aviation hubs.

“The entry of Etihad Airways into the Uzbek market is an important event for the development of the country’s international air services. The airline is among the largest carriers in the Middle East and has an extensive route network,” Uzbekistan Airports noted, underscoring the strategic importance of the decision.

For Uzbek passengers, the new flights open direct access to Abu Dhabi’s international hub, with convenient onward connections to destinations across the Persian Gulf, Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and North America. For Abu Dhabi based businesses and travelers, Uzbekistan becomes significantly easier to reach for short business trips, project inspections and tourism.

Boost for tourism, hospitality and urban development

Daily flights dramatically improve the predictability and flexibility of travel planning, which is crucial for international tour operators, hotel chains and city developers assessing Uzbekistan’s potential. Stable connectivity from Abu Dhabi encourages Gulf visitors to consider Tashkent and other Uzbek cities for leisure and business travel, supporting the growth of hotels, serviced apartments and mixed use urban projects.

Uzbekistan has been positioning itself as a cultural and historical destination in Central Asia. The Etihad route adds a strong premium and business travel segment, bringing in travelers who expect high quality accommodation, modern retail and well designed public spaces. This tends to accelerate demand for contemporary construction projects, interior fit outs and renovation of existing hospitality assets.

With more predictable year round traffic from the Gulf, local authorities and investors gain better visibility on occupancy patterns and demand, making it easier to justify new hotel openings, branded residences and upgrades to airport area infrastructure, from parking and road access to retail and F&B zones inside terminals.

Strategic impact on trade, logistics and regional positioning

Although the new route is passenger focused, any expansion in international air services tends to support broader business activity. Frequent flights simplify the movement of managers, technical teams and high value samples, which is vital for sectors such as construction materials, furniture, lighting and interior solutions that rely on in person project work and showroom visits.

Abu Dhabi’s role as a regional hub offers Uzbek companies and international partners more efficient access to multiple markets through a single connecting point. This not only supports tourism and business travel, but also strengthens Uzbekistan’s image as a country that is opening its skies and modernising its transport policy to attract foreign investment and large brand presence.

As international connectivity improves, banks and investors typically reassess risk and return expectations in the host market. Daily routes by a major Gulf carrier signal confidence in passenger demand and regulatory stability, which can indirectly support financing for real estate, logistics hubs, business centres and production facilities serving both domestic and export markets.

Opportunities for Central Asian manufacturing and project business

For Uzbekistan and the wider Central Asian region, deeper integration with Gulf aviation networks can become a catalyst for new partnerships in construction, architecture and design. Regular flights make it easier to organise site visits, tenders and long term collaboration between Uzbek developers and UAE based design studios, consultants and suppliers of building and interior solutions.

Manufacturing companies in Uzbekistan producing furniture, doors, flooring, ceramics, sanitary ware and other interior and exterior components gain more convenient access to potential buyers and distributors in the Gulf and beyond. Physical presence through trade fairs, showroom openings or joint ventures becomes more feasible when decision makers can reach Tashkent via a single daily flight.

At the same time, the route offers UAE based brands a clear entry corridor into the Uzbek and Central Asian consumer markets. Large international furniture and interior chains, construction material producers and engineering firms can use Abu Dhabi – Tashkent connectivity to test the market with pilot projects, franchise concepts or regional offices, supported by relatively short travel times and stable scheduling.

Why this matters for furniture, construction and design companies

For international businesses in furniture, interiors, construction, architecture and design, Etihad’s daily Abu Dhabi – Tashkent flights significantly lower the practical barrier to entering or expanding in Uzbekistan. The new air link improves access to project sites and partners, speeds up decision making, supports the organisation of regional showrooms and exhibitions, and strengthens investors’ confidence in the country’s openness and long term connectivity. In macroregional terms, this step adds another piece to Central Asia’s emerging role as a more accessible, investment ready market for global project and manufacturing players.
