New focus areas to drive value in woodworking

26-30 May 2025 • LIGNA

Set for May 26 to 30, 2025, LIGNA in Hannover will spotlight major advancements in the woodworking and wood processing industries with its newly introduced focus areas: LIGNA.CONNECTIVITY, LIGNA.SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION, and LIGNA.ENGINEERED WOOD. This gathering aims to address the industry’s shift towards complete digital integration, sustainable production, and the development of engineered wood products.

Stephanie Wagner, LIGNA Project Manager at Deutsche Messe AG, outlines the significance of these focus areas, stating, “With its focus topics of connectivity, sustainable production and engineered wood, LIGNA 2025 will bring together international solution providers for these three central challenges.” She adds, “The exhibiting companies will demonstrate their efforts to advance the complete digital networking of all components of the value chain, aiming to create production paths for an ethical economy that produces intelligently designed wood products.”

Dr. Bernhard Dirr, Managing Director of the VDMA Woodworking Machinery Association, also emphasizes the importance of connectivity, explaining, “The concept of connectivity refers to the process of linking together various systems within the woodworking trade and the wood industry. LIGNA 2025, with its focus on LIGNA.CONNECTIVITY, aims to find solutions for seamlessly connecting different systems within a value creation network, rather than mandating all participants to use the same system.”

LIGNA.SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION and LIGNA.ENGINEERED WOOD are also critical to the fair’s agenda, focusing on sustainable industry practices and innovations in wood products that cater to modern construction needs.

“LIGNA is not only about showcasing technologies but also fostering a platform where the current challenges of the woodworking industry can turn into opportunities for sustainable growth,” says Wagner. “With our three new focus topics, we are taking on this responsibility and looking forward to welcoming the international community of woodworking professionals to Hannover in May 2025.”

This comprehensive approach ensures LIGNA remains a pivotal event for professionals seeking to explore future possibilities in woodworking and wood processing.
